Description

Finally, we see just who inspired my first true superpowered character. Of course, it all came around off and on in bits and pieces at the time and I didn't know what use they'd be first time around. A few of them are just lucky parallels, but I do have some memory on others. Today I’ve forgotten all but everything, it’s been over a year or two since I started and my notes are hard to find. Here's the list of what influence everyone had.

1) Cindy Morgan as Lora Baines: When I started out, I was pretty much picking names out of an invisible hat. I landed on this woman’s name because it’s not very common. However, Alan’s name wasn’t intended to coincide with the Alan in TRON, so I made that crossover featuring Bubblegum Jane mostly for laughs. Either way, Dr. Baines, if not just her program Yori, are a lot like Ms. Jett in that a lot of times she has something to smile about, is caring, and very witty.

2) Inque from Batman Beyond: Gawsh, this gal is one of the reasons I’ve liked shape-shifting people for years. Her seductiveness and…interesting powers really fit into Lora’s hero character, especially the scenes in “Disappearing Inque” where she kisses Terry to keep him quite, then coils her whole body around Aaron Herbst while stroking his hair. “I hope it’ll be everything you’ll be expecting.” This bit is where seducing male villains first came to mind.

a. Honorable Mention: The 2-D man from the Terrific Trio. He was the first elastic hero I ever knew and became interested in – to the point of watching his single episode over and over again.

3) Helen Parr/Elastigirl: Being a superpowered mom didn’t come right away, but I took on the idea after I introduced Mindy to the team. Caring for children who have superpowers similar to their parents make the best team in combat, while going to great lengths to keep those kids out of trouble is just what Helen does, and it reflects nicely for Lora.

4) Galactex: Credit going to :iconarrowny18: , this girl really kicked off the idea for my own Rubber Girl. I thought when seeing Galactex, ‘Hey, everybody’s making elastic women, so why not join up?’ I took the idea of a blonde from her, among other sources, and notably including the point that her hair color changes in hero form. It really gave me some new points to try.

5) The Mask: I think some of Lora’s goofy antics her superpowers make from time to time (like pranking the next-door neighbors) mirrors Stanley Ipkiss’

a. Honorable Mention: Bombshell, One of Stanley’s enemies who used explosive lipstick that overpowers men like drugs. Another big influence in designing my own hero.

6) Nemesis(ter): Mainly used to create the 2nd costume – the idea accredited to my sister from the start. Nevertheless, this character does have some traits to Lora, since Ms. Jett can be a bit girly at times and have makeovers in mind with her powers. This similarity actually provoked that wrestling picture I did.

7) Sue Storm the Invisible Girl: It took some deciding, but this heroine also has a lot in common with the Jett family: Being married to a genius and caring very much for her child. Alan fits into Reed Richard’s role, except being a sibling instead of the husband. He spends most of his time at the lab working, but willing to get in on catching bad guys at any time, while Lora is more open to life. And she never sits on the sidelines or gets an instant relationship like Lois Lane – especially considering her side powers.

8) And finally, Dr. Gina Cross & Dr. Collette Green from Half-Life: Decay: Apparently, Black Mesa security guards compliment their looks when interacted with, giving me some ideas for the seduced villain ‘power’; And she seems to have both their personalities in one: Pragmatic in solving crime while secretly getting a kick out of stretching around and outmatching criminals.
